“The Niedenthal” is a comprehensive exhibition of photos by the outstanding photographer Chris Niedenthal, summarizing 50 years of his work as a photojournalist. The exhibition was organized by the History Meeting House in Warsaw (Dom Spotkań z Historią). Over 200 frames from the author’s archive, consisting of hundreds of thousands of photographs, were presented, along with memorabilia from his work as a photojournalist: press credentials, photographic equipment, and newspaper covers.
The main idea of the project was to showcase the artist’s photographs as effectively as possible and emphasize their journalistic character. Selected works include the artist’s comments describing the behind-the-scenes of their creation.
After the premiere at the History Meeting House in Warsaw (Oct. 2022 – Jun. 2023), the exhibition was redesigned for display at the Museum of the City of Lodz (Jun. 2023 – Dec. 2023) and later for the Rzeczna Gallery in Rybnik (Mar. 2024 – May 2024)
We also designed a catalog and an album with photos from the exhibition. The album includes inserts on transparent sheets imitating photographic film, reminiscent of so-called contact sheets.
